Stolen Excavator Recovered in Bizarre Rural Caper
A stolen excavator has been found after a strange recovery operation that’s sparking laughs online. The Rural Task Force (RTF) tracked down the missing heavy machinery on Monday, following its disappearance from a construction site earlier this month.
The Great Excavator Hunt
The massive digger was hidden in a remote countryside spot. Officers used tracking tech to locate and secure it without a hitch.
“Recovering a stolen excavator is not your average day’s work, but we’re pleased to have returned it to its rightful owner. Investigations are ongoing to identify those responsible,” said an RTF spokesperson.
Online Reacts With Jokes and Praise
The unusual theft quickly went viral, with social media users cracking jokes about how anyone could move such a beast unnoticed:
- Ruralvolunteer: “Was he trying to track it on the road??”
- Paul Williams: “I hope the chap is in a hole lot of trouble!”
- Richard: “Must’ve had a low loader nearby as you can’t drive that on a road hahaha.”
Others applauded the RTF’s success. Tintin Orange commented: “Stinger did its job, no doubt.”
Warning to Construction Sites
While rare, theft of large vehicles can cause major losses to builders. Police urge sites to boost security with GPS trackers and immobilisers.
The RTF is asking anyone with info to call 101, quoting reference 18/4372, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
