Police Crack Down on Wild Car Meets in Swindon
Road policing units are cracking down on anti-social behaviour linked to disruptive car gatherings. Over the weekend, officers tackled illegal activity at car meets as part of Operation Staysail.
Speeding and Defects: Drivers Snared
On Sunday, police swooped on a massive meet of more than 100 vehicles in west Swindon. Sixteen drivers were reported for offences including speeding. One motorist was slapped with a fixed penalty notice. Another was ordered to fix a dangerous vehicle defect.
Illegal Stickers Banned on the Spot
Officers also found five cars sporting illegal view-obstructing stickers. All were ordered removed immediately to ensure road safety.
Operation Staysail continues to keep a lid on illegal racing and reckless behaviour on Britain’s roads.
