Fatal collision rocks Dorset community

Dorset Police were called at 5.35pm on Sunday 13 February 2022 after a serious crash near the junction of Station Road and Church Road in Ashley Cross. The smash involved a silver Land Rover Freelander and a grey Nissan Pulsar.

Man arrested, others assist police

A 41-year-old man from Poole was arrested on suspicion of driving offences but has since been released under investigation. Another local, a 79-year-old man, is helping police and has attended a voluntary interview.

Family pays heartfelt tribute to victim Chris Lynch

The worst news came on Wednesday 16 February when 32-year-old pedestrian Chris Lynch, from Southampton, died in hospital following serious injuries sustained in the accident. His devastated family said:

“Chris’ tragic death has left an irreparable hole in the hearts of everyone who knew him. He was a devoted, loving and loyal father, husband, son, brother and friend.

“He had a passion for the outdoors and lived a life full of adventure. Chris never put less than 100% into every aspect of his life – his family, friends, hobbies and career.

“He was a hero to his young children Kitty and Arthur and soulmate to his wife Ellie. We miss him terribly.”
