Tragedy in Cardiff: Three Bodies Found After Night Out Disappearance
Police in Wales have confirmed the grim discovery of three bodies in the search for five missing friends last seen in Cardiff after a night out.
Night Out Ends in Horror
Sophie Russon (20), Eve Smith (21), Darcy Ross (21), along with Rafel Jeanne and Shane Loughlin, vanished after a night out and were last spotted in Llanederyn, Cardiff, early on March 4. Their missing Volkswagen Tiguan was found crashed off the A48 after a lengthy police search.
Tragically, three of the five occupants died in the crash. The three women are believed to have spent time earlier that night at Newport’s Muffler nightclub before disappearing.
Family Slams Police Response
Sophie Russon’s mother, Anna Certowicz, has hit out at police for a lacklustre response. She told the Daily Mail:
“They didn’t appear to mind. Because they were doing nothing, I had to drive to Cardiff and knock on doors myself. It was extremely aggravating.”
Anna added that police seemed to dismiss concerns, assuming Sophie was just hungover. “She’s a sensible girl who works in a bank and hasn’t taken a day off in three years… she wouldn’t just disappear unless something was wrong.”
She also revealed that when she initially reported Sophie missing, officers told her to “stop ringing them.” The three women have been friends since childhood.
Search Ends in Tragedy
Friends said the group travelled together in the Volkswagen with Shane and Rafel. After a desperate weekend hunt, police recovered the car just after midnight in Cardiff’s St Mellons area. Authorities believe it was involved in a crash off the A48, though the victims’ identities have yet to be officially confirmed.
A Gwent Police spokesperson said:
“We understand how upsetting it is when a loved one goes missing. We are working closely with the families involved to gather more information and address any concerns.”
