Brutal dawn attack: Two dogs kill 24 sheep in Kent

Sheep savaged near Elbridge Hill

Police rushed to a field near Elbridge Hill, Sturry at 6am on Saturday 22 April after two dogs were caught mauling sheep. The carnage left a ewe and 23 lambs dead, with several others needing urgent treatment.

One dog seized, owner sought

Officers caught one Akita-type dog without a collar or microchip. The other dog fled the scene. Sergeant Darren Walshaw from Kent Police’s Rural Task Force described the scene as “very distressing,” adding:

“So many lambs have needlessly lost their lives. This kind of attack hits farmers hard – they spend years building up their flocks.”

Police urge public to speak up

Kent Police is hunting the owners. Anyone with information is urged to call 01843 222289, quoting reference 22-0239. Anonymous tips can also be given via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 or through their online form.
