Three Bail After Murder Arrests in 20-Year-Old Disappearance Case

Three suspects arrested over the decades-old disappearance of Robert Scott Clive have been released on bail, Northumbria Police confirmed this Monday.

Scott, 30 at the time, vanished on October 10, 2002, last seen around 11 p.m. in North Shields. The former Stranraer man had recently moved from Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. Despite exhaustive searches, his body remains missing. Police launched a murder investigation shortly after he disappeared.

New Arrests Spark Hope in Cold Case

Over the weekend, two men in their 40s and 50s and a woman in her 40s were detained following a fresh tip-off. One man, aged 49, had already been arrested last summer in connection to Scott’s case.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “The three arrested have since been bailed pending further police enquiries.”

Focused Search in North Shields

Officers are scouring an address on Coronation Street, where Scott is believed to have been on the night he disappeared. Police hope to uncover crucial evidence to crack the mystery.

Detective Inspector Mark Atherton, leading the probe, urged locals to step forward:

“We are doing everything we can to provide Scott’s family with the answers they deserve. I am again urging anybody who lived on Coronation Street at the time of his disappearance, or has information about Scott’s movements that night, to come forward.”

Family’s Long Wait for Closure

For over 20 years, Scott’s family has lived in painful uncertainty. While recent arrests offer fresh hope, police continue to piece together new leads in a case that has haunted the community.

Police Plea: Any Information Is Vital

Northumbria Police are appealing for anyone with information—no matter how small—to assist their investigation. Witnesses or those who knew Scott’s whereabouts on October 10, 2002, are urged to contact the force or reach out anonymously to Crimestoppers.

The hunt for answers presses on as authorities remain determined to solve this cold case and bring long-awaited closure to Scott’s loved ones.
