A 78-year-old pensioner has died after being struck by a van in the Asda car park in Shaw, Oldham. The tragic accident happened just days before Christmas, leaving the local community reeling with grief.

Emergency services raced to the scene on Greenfield Lane at around 6:50pm last Thursday. According to Greater Manchester Police (GMP), the elderly woman was returning to her car when a Peugeot Expert van, driven by a motorist trying to exit the car park, hit her.

She suffered serious injuries and sadly died shortly after the collision.
