Landlord Suspected in Brutal Attack
A peaceful Saturday morning in the US turned into a nightmare when a stabbing left an 8-year-old boy dead and a woman seriously injured. Police have detained the landlord, a 71-year-old man, in connection with the horrific incident.
911 Call Sparks Swift Police Response
At around 11:38am, the Will County Sheriff’s Office received a frantic call from a woman reporting she’d been attacked with a knife by her landlord at a home on South Lincoln Highway near Lily Cache Road.
Fearing for her life, the 32-year-old woman escaped to a bathroom and managed to call 911, alerting emergency services.
Grim Scene Unfolds at the Home
- Responding officers found the suspect lying by the driveway with a deep cut on his forehead; he was rushed to hospital.
- Inside, both victims had multiple stab wounds to their chest, torso, and arms – police estimate over a dozen each.
- The woman is in serious condition, while the boy was first critical before tragically dying from his injuries.
- The coroner has yet to release the boy’s identity.
Investigation Ongoing After Suspect’s Hospital Release
After treatment, the landlord was arrested and taken to the Will County Sheriff’s Public Safety Complex for questioning. No charges have been filed as of Saturday night, with detectives expected to continue the investigation into Sunday.
