BTP Detective Dies After Covid Battle: ‘Charismatic, Kind and Thoughtful’
The British Transport Police (BTP) has paid tribute to Detective Constable John Coker, who sadly passed away after a fierce fight with Covid-19.
Covid Takes Beloved Officer
Detective Constable John Coker, 53, was taken ill on March 22 with coronavirus symptoms. Despite intensive care and the best efforts from hospital staff, John’s condition worsened. He died on April 17.
Heartfelt Condolences for Family
The head of BTP expressed deep sorrow over John’s passing. “My thoughts are with John’s family during this devastating time,” he said. Colleagues have kept in close contact with John’s wife and offered support that will continue in the coming weeks and months.

John served the BTP for over 10 years and worked as a Detective Constable in the CID at Euston. He was widely loved and respected for his charisma, kindness, and thoughtful nature. Colleagues remember him as someone who took everything in his stride.
