Elderly Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run Horror on A289 Gillingham
Two men are in custody after a grisly hit-and-run left an 80-something pedestrian dead on Monday afternoon. The shocking collision happened at 12.10pm on the A289 Gads Hill.
Grey Mercedes Estate Mows Down Man Before Fleeing
A grey Mercedes estate smashed into the elderly man, reportedly dragging him on the bonnet before speeding off. Police later found the abandoned car dumped on Eastcourt Lane. The driver and passenger had vanished on foot.
The victim was found lying injured on Grange Road. Paramedics scrambled to the scene but could not save him. He was pronounced dead at the roadside.
Two Arrested, Third Suspect Sought
Kent Police snapped up two suspects later that day — a 29-year-old from Chatham and a 28-year-old with no fixed address. Both remain locked up as cops dig deeper.
Detectives have also released a CCTV image of a possible third man connected to the incident. They are begging the public to identify him and come forward with any info.
