Two Arrested After Stolen JCB Smashes Into Hedge in Chartham

Police swooped after a stolen JCB dug itself a hole in a hedge in Chartham, near Canterbury. The yellow digger ignored officers’ signals and crashed into a Parish Road hedge on Saturday night, sparking a manhunt.

High-Speed Chase Ends in Crash

Officers were called to Bolts Hill just after 8.30pm on 11 January following reports of suspicious behaviour involving the JCB. The duo behind the wheel tried to make a getaway on foot after the crash.

Sniffer Dogs and Helicopter Join the Hunt

Police deployed sniffer dogs and the National Police Air Service helicopter to comb the area. Their efforts paid off with two arrests – a 51-year-old Ashford man and a 39-year-old from Dover – both held on suspicion of theft.

Stolen From Near Folkestone Earlier That Night

The JCB had reportedly been stolen from a property in Ottinge, near Folkestone, just hours before the crash. The suspects remain in custody as detectives dig deeper.
