Two Arrested After Shocking Attack in Nottingham City Centre
Two men have been arrested following a brutal assault in Nottingham’s Upper Parliament Street. The victim was walking with a woman and child when a group approached him and launched a violent attack.
Man Punched and Pelted with Objects
The assault unfolded at around 5:50pm on Tuesday, 29 November. The victim was punched in the face and had objects thrown at him in a shocking unprovoked attack. Just an hour later, the same group confronted him again in Minver Crescent, Aspley, threatening him before fleeing in a car.
Police Use ANPR to Track Down Suspects
Nottinghamshire Police sprang into action, using automatic number plate recognition cameras to track down the getaway vehicle. The car was found abandoned in Clarendon Street, Nottingham city centre.
A 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and affray. An 18-year-old was also taken into custody for affray.
Police Appeal for Information
“This was a completely unprovoked attack on a man who was in the presence of a young child when this happened,” said Detective Sergeant Al Roper. “We condemn all forms of aggressive behaviour and want to see an end to violent disorder on our streets.”
“We’ve arrested two suspects connected to both incidents and are continuing our investigation. Anyone with information should call police on 101, quoting incident 673 of 29 November 2022.”
