Three men have been arrested on suspicion of firearm offences after dawn raids in east and north London. Police swooped on three locations:

  • A 31-year-old man caught in Northumberland Road, E17
  • Another 31-year-old nabbed in Adams Road, N17
  • A 19-year-old arrested on Theobald Road, E17

All face charges of possessing firearms with intent to endanger life. Two suspects are now held at an east London police station, with the third locked up in north London. All remain in custody.

Seven-Month Crackdown After Shocking London Shooting

The raids are part of a Met Police seven-month operation following a shooting at a commercial premises in Leyton back in October 2017.

Officers, including armed units, were called to Rigg Approach near Lea Bridge Road on Saturday, 28 October after reports of gunfire. They found a 41-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his left leg.

Further inquiries revealed a woman in her 20s had also suffered a gunshot wound to the chest. Both victims have since been treated and discharged from hospital.

Detective Sergeant Condemns ‘Dangerous’ Gun Crime

Detective Sergeant Leigh-Ann Barthram of the Met’s Trident Area and Crime Command slammed the violent suspects. She said:

“These warrants come following a horrendous incident and it is pure luck there were no further victims or fatalities. The people responsible are dangerous individuals with no regard for others’ safety, shown by their violent actions.”

“The Met is fully committed to taking violent offenders off London’s streets to make the city safer for everyone.”
