Blaze Breaks Out in Hackney High-Rise Flat
A fire ripped through an eighth-floor flat on the St John’s Estate in Hackney on Wednesday afternoon, sparking a major emergency response from the London Fire Brigade.
35 Firefighters Tackle Flames
Five fire engines and around 35 firefighters raced to the scene after the first 999 call hit the Brigade’s Control Officers at 3pm. Crews from Shadwell, Bethnal Green, Stoke Newington, Dockhead, and Holloway fire stations scrambled to contain the blaze.
Firefighters acted fast, bringing the flames under control by 3:45pm.
No Injuries as Fire Damages Flat
The fire caused damage to part of the eighth-floor flat, but thankfully no one was hurt.
“Crews worked rapidly to contain the fire and prevent further spread within the building. Thankfully, no one was hurt,” confirmed a London Fire Brigade spokesperson.
Investigation Underway as Residents Breathe Sigh of Relief
The cause of the fire is now under investigation. Residents expressed relief that the fire was swiftly managed and no evacuation beyond the affected flat was needed.
The high-rise building remains structurally sound. Local authorities will work closely with fire investigators to get to the bottom of the blaze.
