Second arrest made in Deptford stabbing murder of Shevaun Sorrell
Detectives probing the brutal murder of 22-year-old Shevaun Sorrell in Deptford have snapped up a second suspect. A 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder at a Deptford address on the evening of 30 August and now remains in custody at a south London police station.
Earlier the same day, cops arrested a 36-year-old man also suspected of murder, who is still being held.
Shevaun stabbed to death on Creek Road
The horror unfolded late on Saturday, 25 August, when police were called to Creek Road, Deptford Church Street junction, around 11:45pm following reports of an unresponsive man. Officers and the London Ambulance Service rushed to the scene to find Shevaun suffering stab wounds.
CPR was administered on site, but despite frantic efforts, Shevaun tragically died in hospital shortly after, at 12:40am the next day.
Police appeal for eyewitnesses and footage
Detective Chief Inspector Michael Norman, leading the hunt for Shevaun’s killer, said: “This investigation is making progress but we still need witnesses to come forward.”
“I know people saw officers and paramedics giving aid at the scene. If you saw any arguing or a scuffle between men beforehand, or anyone leaving quickly looking panicked, please get in touch.”
“Anyone with CCTV or dash cam footage is urged to share it with police immediately.”
