High-Speed Police Chase Ends in Arrest Near Maldon
An Audi A3 became the focus of a dramatic police pursuit this Monday afternoon near Maldon. The vehicle, linked to an ongoing probe into threats and weapons offences, refused to stop when asked by officers.
Erratic Driving Sparks Police Chase
The Audi was spotted at around 1:40pm near Woodham Mortimer. Despite officers requesting it to pull over, the car sped off, weaving erratically through Ulting and Hatfield Peverel.
Police followed closely but safely as the vehicle joined the northbound A12, finally exiting at Witham.
Police Bring Chase to Safe End
Once conditions were safe, officers intercepted the Audi by positioning their vehicle in front, bringing the chase to a halt. During the arrest, two officers sustained injuries and are now receiving medical treatment. The suspect is also in medical care after being taken into custody.
“This incident has played out very publicly,” said Detective Chief Inspector Rob Huddleston. “Safety of the suspect, officers, and public was always our top priority. The arrest highlights the dangers our officers face daily. Essex Police stand fully behind those involved and will provide all necessary support.”
