Brighton Man Arrested Over Shocking Hove Kidnap Attempt
A 21-year-old man from Brighton has been arrested after a terrifying kidnap attempt in Hove in the early hours of Monday, August 5.
Woman Lured Into Car, Escapes Kidnapper
Sussex Police revealed the chilling incident happened around 2 a.m. near the junction of Selborne Road and Church Road in Hove. A man reportedly asked a woman for directions before grabbing her and pulling her into his car. He then drove a short distance south along First Avenue.
Thankfully, the woman managed to escape from the vehicle and raise the alarm.
Suspect and Vehicle Seized
The vehicle linked to the kidnap incident was seized later that same evening. Then, in the early hours of Sunday, August 11, police arrested the 21-year-old at a Brighton address. He faces suspicion of kidnap, vehicle theft, and making off without payment.
Police Urge Public To Come Forward
Superintendent Petra Lazar, leading the investigation, said: “It is understandable that this case has caused concern locally. A dedicated team has worked tirelessly, which has now led to the arrest of a suspect.”
She added: “We thank those who have already provided information and urge anyone else to come forward. Every detail counts in this ongoing investigation.”
