Tragic Stabbing in Croydon: Victim Named as 19-Year-Old Kye Manning
Heartbreak in Croydon as 19-year-old Kye Manning dies after a brutal stabbing on Brighton Road. Police were called just after 9pm on Thursday, 11 July, following reports of a male with stab wounds.
Despite the frantic efforts of officers, London Ambulance Service, and Air Ambulance crews, Kye was pronounced dead at the scene by 9.50pm. A post-mortem confirmed he died from a single stab wound to the heart.
Five Arrested in Connection With Deadly Attack
- An 18-year-old man found nearby with stab injuries is in hospital in stable condition. He has been arrested on suspicion of murder but remains under medical care.
- A 20-year-old, discovered close to Purley Railway Station with a slash wound, is also in hospital. He’s been arrested on suspicion of murder.
- A 17-year-old boy was arrested near the scene on suspicion of murder and is now in police custody.
- An 18-year-old man faces attempted murder charges and is held at a south London police station.
- A 15-year-old boy arrested near the scene was released on bail pending further inquiries, also on suspicion of murder.
Police Plea: Community’s Help Needed to Catch Killers
Detective Chief Inspector John Massey, leading the investigation, said: “This is a terrible incident which has resulted in a young man’s life being tragically cut short. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this very difficult time.”
He added: “We’ve made several arrests and will work tirelessly to bring those responsible to justice. But we cannot do this alone. If you witnessed anything or have information, please come forward.”
