Chemical Assault at Waltham Abbey McDonald’s Sends Six to Hospital

Six people have been rushed to hospital after staff at the McDonald’s in Highbridge Retail Park were attacked with a chemical substance. The shocking assault sparked a massive emergency response on Tuesday evening.

Major Emergency Response at Highbridge Street

The East of England Ambulance Service deployed three ambulances, three hazardous area response team (HART) vehicles, a paramedic car, and a rapid response vehicle to Highbridge Street, Waltham Abbey, shortly after 7pm.

“Six patients were conveyed to hospital — three to Princess Alexandra Hospital and three to North Middlesex Hospital,” a spokesperson confirmed.

Protective Suits and Multiple Emergency Crews on Scene

Eyewitnesses reported seeing emergency workers in full protective suits attending the scene. The McDonald’s restaurant was cordoned off, with at least five ambulances, two fire crews, and numerous police officers in attendance.

The chemical involved has not yet been identified. Authorities are treating the incident as a serious assault and are actively investigating.

Public Urged to Steer Clear

Emergency services have urged the public to avoid the area while the investigation unfolds. Police have yet to issue a formal statement but are expected to provide updates soon.
