A violent drama rocked a Crookhorn block of flats in the early hours of Monday as a man, Jamie Sibley, was shot in the head. Locals say Sibley has terrorised the neighbourhood for years with his drug dealing – and say this was only a matter of time.
Neighbours Hear Gunfire and Chaos
An anonymous neighbour told UK News in Pictures, “I heard the shots ring out after a man and woman showed up at the property. Then they ran off.”
It’s believed the pair, a 37-year-old man and 38-year-old woman, tried to rob Sibley’s drug stash. “The woman is always around, trying to score drugs,” the source added.
Man Seriously Injured in Early Morning Shooting
The shooting happened just before 1am on Athena Avenue. The victim, a man in his 30s, suffered serious head injuries and was rushed by ambulance to Southampton General Hospital.
Quick Police Action Leads to Arrests
Armed officers arrested the suspects less than two hours later at a nearby address on High Lawn Way, Havant. Both remain in police custody, questioned by the Major Crime Team on suspicion of attempted murder.
Detective Superintendent Darren Rawlings warned locals to expect a strong police presence. “We have two scenes: one at the shooting location and one where arrests were made,” he said. “We want to reassure the community and urge anyone with information to call 101 quoting Operation Endorse, or speak directly to officers in the area.”
