Stockport House Fire Sparks Police Investigation
A house blaze in Stockport has triggered a police probe after fire ripped through a property in the early hours of Wednesday morning (May 7).
Blaze Hits Wilmslow Road, Heald Green
Firefighters rushed to Wilmslow Road, Heald Green, just before 1am following reports of a fire at a detached house. The fire caused smoke damage to the front door but was quickly brought under control by crews from Wythenshawe and Cheadle stations using hose reels.
Thankfully, the property was empty at the time, and no injuries were reported.
Forensics and Police Sweep the Scene
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed that officers and forensic teams have cordoned off part of the street. Crime scene investigators combed the area this morning, while detectives conducted door-to-door enquiries with neighbours.
Burnt remains of a wheelie bin were also spotted outside the home, adding to suspicions.
Arson or Accident? Police Keep Options Open
It remains unclear whether the fire is being treated as arson. GMP said enquiries are ongoing.
