Authorities are on high alert after a 41-year-old woman walking her dog was threatened in a chilling robbery attempt just before 1am on Friday, September 8, 2023. The incident happened near the junction of Hill Street and Croft Street in Galashiels, leaving the victim rattled but unharmed.

Man in Grey Stripes Strikes

The unidentified attacker made his move suddenly, but the woman’s dog sprang into action, startling the assailant and preventing physical harm. Witnesses described the suspect as a man in a grey jumper and grey shorts with stripes down the side. He spoke with a distinct Scottish accent.

Detective Constable Claire White said, “This was understandably a frightening incident for the victim, who should have been able to walk the streets with her dog without fear of being attacked.” Police are now combing the area, urging anyone with CCTV, doorbell, or dashcam footage to come forward.
