Drama at Portland Bill: Woman Rescued from Cliffside Cave
At 4.50pm, alarm bells rang as reports came in of a person spotted in the water near Portland Bill. Wyke and Portland Coastguard Rescue Teams sprang into action, joined by lifeboats from Weymouth RNLI and Dorset Police.
High-Flying Rescue Effort
The rescue ramped up with a Coastguard rescue helicopter, a police chopper, and the Helimed air ambulance all scrambled to the scene. The heroic helicopter crew managed to reach a lady trapped in a cliffside cave — a notoriously inaccessible spot — and airlifted her to safety.
Swift Hospital Transfer
Once rescued, the woman was rushed to hospital by South West Ambulance Service for urgent medical attention.
