Mass Party Crashed on London Boat – Over 70 Hit with £800 Fines

Police swooped on a wild boat bash in North Acton just after 11pm on Saturday, January 30. Over 70 revellers were caught cramming onto a moored vessel on Volt Avenue, wildly breaching Coronavirus rules.

Party Shut Down, Heavy Fines Loom

The Met quickly broke up the party, dishing out fixed penalty notices of £800 each for flouting indoor gathering limits – the legal cap being 15 people. A whopping 72 attendees face fines.

Even the organiser isn’t off the hook, facing a whopping £10,000 penalty for masterminding the illicit shindig.

Police Warn: “Covid Rules Aren’t Optional”

“This was a blatant breach of the Coronavirus rules that are in place to save lives and protect the huge pressure on the NHS,” said Detective Chief Inspector Thomas Bowen, of West Area.

“All the people who attended this event, which appears to have been organised on social media, have quite rightly been reported for the consideration of fines.

“The Met will continue to shut down and disperse events such as this, which risk spreading a virus that has already claimed the lives of more than 100,000 people in this country.”
