a Car Stop By The County Knife Crime Team Led To The Seizure Of Large Amounts Of Cocaine

A car stop by the county knife crime team led to the seizure of large amounts of cocaine.

The officers were on patrol in the Worksop area when they spotted a car they suspected could be involved in drug activity.

After pulling the vehicle over in Cheapside, officers made the decision to search the people inside when they became suspicious of the way they were behaving.

One of the suspects was then quickly found to have large quantities of cocaine hidden under their clothing.

Stacks of cash and multiple mobile phones were also seized from inside the car, following the stop at around 2.20pm on Monday (13 March).

Two men, aged 28 and 31, were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

Sergeant Jonny Groves, of the county knife crime team, said: “This was a great example of the role proactive stop and searches can play in detecting crime that may have otherwise slipped through the cracks.

“Our team utilises this police power on a daily basis and carries out regular patrols of different areas, based on intelligence we receive of criminal activity.

“We are constantly on the move across different locations in the county, with the main purpose of trying to target people who could potentially be carrying knives and other weapons.

“Often this does lead to us uncovering other offending though, such as those involved in drug activity.

“We’re pleased to have been able to arrest two suspects, although inquiries are still ongoing into this incident, so we’d ask anyone with information to contact 101, quoting incident 23000153973.”
