Burglar who targeted businesses in Bournemouth jailed
A man who burgled businesses in Bournemouth has been jailed for 16 months. Fabian McNerney, 44 and of no fixed abode, was sentenced at Bournemouth Crown Court on Friday 20 April 2018 after pleading guilty to a commercial burglary and asked for four other similar offences to be taken into consideration. On the evening of Monday 8 January 2018 a member of the public noticed some suspicious activity at The Barbers on Seabourne Road in the Boscombe area involving two men. He contacted the shop owner to alert him to the incident. The pair attended the shop and confronted one man, who was placing items from the shop into a bag. A scuffle then occurred between the pair and the man. During the scuffle the offender lost one of the trainers and gloves he was wearing. He then made off in a car driven by a second man. Later the same day officers located the vehicle involved parked outside an address in Windham Road in Bournemouth. McNerney was arrested as he left the address. Two bags were found in the hallway, which contained stolen property from The Barbers. The car was also searched and the missing shoe was located and was established to be the correct size for McNerney. Detective Constable Ben Swain, of Dorset Police, said: “Fabian McNerney is a prolific burglar who targets businesses for his own greed. These crimes can often have a huge financial impact on small businesses who have to work hard to continue operating. “We take burglary extremely seriously and will use all investigative avenues available to us to ensure those responsible for these crimes are caught and brought to justice.
