Two Behind Bars Following Burglary In Esher

David Parsons, 70, of Hounslow Road in Feltham, and Karl West, 53, of Rockingham Road in Uxbridge, were sentenced at Guildford Crown Court yesterday (13 April) following a burglary in Esher in January this year.

On 17 January the pair broke into a residential address in Esher, waking up the victim who spotted them in his garden shining their torches. The victim quickly called the police, informing officers that his living room window was broken and silverware was missing from his cabinet.

Officers immediately deployed to the scene and began to search the area. Less than ten minutes later they identified Parsons and West walking on foot near Clare Hill. Officers pursued the pair and witnessed them discard silver objects which the victim later confirmed belonged to him.

Both men were arrested on suspicion of burglary and officers found a set of car keys in West’s possession. The team expanded their search of the area and located the car on Milbourne Lane.

Inside the car was a black bag which contained further items stolen from the victim’s house, one of which was engraved with the victim’s surname. Officers also recovered bank cards in the name of Parsons and West from the vehicle.

Parsons was sentenced to 30 months’ imprisonment. West was sentenced to 34 months’ imprisonment followed by six months for breaching an Suspended Sentence Order.

Detective Constable Jess Jaensch, who investigated the case, said: “These sentences are the result of a collective effort across police departments. The swift arrest of the suspects by the responding officers enabled detectives to bring the evidence together and secure convictions for two prolific burglars.

“Most importantly, we’re pleased that all of the victim’s stolen property, most of which were sentimental family heirlooms, have been recovered and will be returned to them.”
