A major fire has broken out at a commercial property on Maypole Crescent in Erith, prompting a huge response from the London Fire Brigade.

The fire, first reported at 10:47pm, has engulfed a warehouse, along with a crane and multiple vehicles. The blaze has triggered a 25-pump attendance, with approximately 150 firefighters now tackling the flames at the Darent Industrial Park.


Large-Scale Emergency Response

Three of the Brigade’s 32-metre turntable ladders have been deployed to provide an aerial overview and to help deliver water from above. Fire crews have been mobilised from Bexley, Erith, Plumstead, East Greenwich, Sidcup, and several other surrounding stations.

The Brigade’s 999 Control Officers received the first of at least ten emergency calls reporting the fire. The incident continues to develop rapidly.

 

Public Safety Advice

Due to the significant amount of smoke being produced, local residents are advised to keep all windows and doors closed where possible.

At this stage, no injuries have been reported, and the cause of the fire is not yet known. Firefighters are expected to remain at the scene for a prolonged period.

Fire investigators will begin determining the cause once the fire is brought under control and the site is made safe.
