The man and a two-year-old child were struck by a train at Garrowhill train station in Glasgow on Sunday night. The incident prompted a significant emergency service response, with authorities rushing to the scene following reports of casualties on the tracks.
Both the 26-year-old man and the child were transported to the hospital, where they currently remain receiving treatment for their injuries. Fortunately, the child’s injuries are now believed to be minor, while the man’s condition is reported as non-life-threatening.
On Monday night, the man was taken into custody on suspicion of attempted murder. The British Transport Police have stated that he is under police observation in the hospital.
Detective Chief Inspector Marc Francey assured the public that this was an isolated incident and they are not seeking any other individuals in connection with the incident. Specially trained officers are providing support to the young boy’s family, and it is hopeful that he will make a full recovery.
