Around 800 Staff Evacuated Before The London Fire Brigade Crews Are Set To Remain At The Scene Overnight Tackling A Deep Seated Fire

Fifteen fire engines and around 100 firefighters have been called to a fire at a warehouse on Church Manorway in Erith. 

The large three-storey warehouse is divided into 30 loading bays.

Station Commander Steve Vydelingum said:

Firefighters are working hard in hot and arduous conditions inside the warehouse. Around 800 staff evacuated before the Brigade arrived. There are no reports of any injuries. The fire is very deep-seated and will be very protracted. Fire crews will be at the scene throughout the night.”

The Brigade was called at 1242pm  Fire crews from Bexley, Plumstead, Millwall, Lee Green, Greenwich, Eltham and surrounding fire stations are at the scene.

The cause of the fire is not known at this stage.
