Driver High on Drugs arrested after 44 Year Woman Mowed Down and Killed in Reading

Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision in which a woman died in Reading. Shortly before 12.45am today (21/10) a pedestrian was involved in a collision with a white Range Rover which was travelling on the slip road of the Inner Distribution Road between the Castle Street and Oxford Road roundabouts. Officers and ambulance crews attended however the pedestrian, a 44-year-old woman, died at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed. A 30-year-old man from Reading was arrested today on suspicion of causing death by driving without due care / consideration while over specified limit of a controlled drug. He was released under investigation. This collision is not being linked to a fatal collision several hours earlier in Great Knolly’s Street, Reading. Road closures were in place in the area while an investigation was launched. The roads were subsequently re-opened. Investigating officer PC James Lovell, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit at Three Mile Cross, said: “I would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or who saw a female pedestrian in the carriageway prior to the collision.
