Fire Crews Called To Chemical Incident In Southampton

Fire crews from 6 stations are currently attending a hazardous material incident at Maritime in Test Lane Southampton. Fire crews were alerted just after 11.30 this morning 6 fire appliances and other vehicles are currently assessing the nature of the incident. John Dyer, tactical advisor from Southampton Central Ambulance Service said: “There’s a small leak of chemical. Hampshire Fire and Rescue Services have assessed and there no danger to the public and no casualties. Hampshire Fire and Rescue are handing back the sire to the owners. “It’s an organic solvent. It’s very hazardous, it’s a very small leak and low in concentration.” Fire Crews from Redbridge, St Mary’s, Totton, Winchester and Totton and Cosham were sent to the scene as well as paramedics from the Hazardous area Response Team (HART) and a Specialist DIM unit from Winchester.
