Police probe continues following fatal hit and run on Gallows Corner
Police continue to appeal for information following a road traffic collision in Romford. Police were called at approximately 8.50pm on Wednesday, 19 June to reports of a car in collision with a female pedestrian on the A12, Gallows Corner. Officers, the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance all attended the scene. The pedestrian – a 22-year–old woman was taken to a south London hospital in a critical condition. She died on the afternoon of Friday, 21 June. Her next of kin are aware. The driver of the car stopped at the scene and was not arrested. Enquiries into the circumstances continue. Detective Sergeant Jose Qureshi is leading the investigation. He said: “Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are working to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident. “I am asking for anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has dash cam footage, to make contact with us as soon as possible.” Anyone with information asked to contact the SCIU on 020 8597 4874.
