Sussex Man Sentenced to Seven Years for Series of Sexual Assaults

A 27-year-old man has been sentenced to seven years for a series of sexual assaults in Bexhill. Max Wright, previously residing on Amherst Road in Bexhill, faced five counts of sexual assault in connection with three incidents spanning from November 2022 to June 2023.

The first reported incident occurred on November 20, 2022, involving a woman attacked near Bexhill Railway Station by an individual identifying himself as Maximiliano. Despite extensive investigations, including CCTV analysis and door-to-door enquiries, the perpetrator initially remained unidentified.

In April 2023, three women were assaulted near Cooden Railway Station by a man who threatened them and then fled. This incident led to Wright’s identification and subsequent arrest. Released on conditional bail, Wright was linked to both this and the earlier incident.

A further assault in June, captured briefly on video by the victim, resulted in Wright’s immediate re-arrest. He was charged with all five assaults and pled guilty in July at Hove Crown Court.

On December 1, Wright received a four-year prison sentence, followed by three years on license. Additionally, he received restraining orders against all victims and was placed indefinitely on the Sex Offenders’ Register.
