Two arrests made over fatal stabbing in Camden

Metropolitan Police Metropolitan Police logotype UPDATE: Fatal stabbing in Camden Metropolitan Police – Aug 15, 2019 19:18 BST [Victim: Alex Smith] Detectives investigating the murder of a teenager in Camden have formally identified the victim and made two arrests. Alex Smith, 16, (15.09.02) from Brent died after being stabbed in Munster Square, NW1 on Monday, 12 August. A post-mortem examination conducted on Thursday, 15 August found the cause of Alex’s death to have been a stab wound to the chest. Police were called at approximately 11.10pm on Monday, 12 August to reports of a stabbing at Munster Square. Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended and Alex Smith was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been notified. A 23-year-old man and an 18-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of murder on Wednesday, 14 August – they remain in custody at a central London police station. Detective Inspector Jamie Stevenson, said: “We’re still keeping an open mind concerning the motive of this brutal attack and thank those who have come forward and spoken to us so far. “We know there are individuals out there who can assist this investigation and we continue to appeal for those people to make contact with officers. Please do the right thing and come forward, anonymously if need be, but do make the call.” Anyone with information that could assist the investigation is asked to call the incident room on 020 8358 0400 quoting Cad 8433/12Aug.
