A second mutilated cat has been found in Portsmouth, sparking fresh fears around the notorious M25 cat killer.
Second Horrific Cat Death in Portsmouth
The first victim, a tortoiseshell cat, was discovered last week in a Milton neighbour’s garden, decapitated and with its tail cruelly removed. Now, a second cat has been found similarly mutilated just off Stubbington Avenue, Copnor, on Monday.
M25 Cat Killer Strikes Again?
Animal rescue group South Norwood Animal Rescue and Liberty (SNARL) are examining the new victim. Early signs suggest it could be linked to the same brutal killer who’s been terrorising the M25 region since 2014.
The killer’s reach is reportedly wider than the M25, targeting cats, foxes, rabbits, and birds as far north as Sheffield and Manchester, and possibly even the Isle of Wight. Over 250 cats have been reportedly dismembered and decapitated across the country.
Expert Confirmations and Rewards
“We know they’re done by the same person because the cuts are from the same sort of hand. If a different person did them, they would make the cuts in different places,” said a SNARL spokeswoman.
“He has a few signature mutilations – always cutting off heads, paws, or tails – or slicing cats in half. There are other details we haven’t released to prevent copycat crimes.”
“It’s not us deciding they’re the same person. That’s what post-mortems and forensic evidence confirm.”
PETA initially offered a £5,000 reward for information leading to the catch, which has now been matched by Outpaced, doubling the total to £10,000.
The hunt for the chilling M25 cat killer continues as police and animal charities urge anyone with information to come forward.
