Seventy Firefighters Battle Huge Blaze at Birmingham Recycling Centre

A massive fire tore through a recycling centre on Clarel Avenue in Birmingham this afternoon, sending thick smoke visible for miles across the city.

Emergency Services Flood the Scene

Seventeen fire engines, two aerial platforms, a high-volume water pumping unit, and even a drone were deployed to tackle the fierce blaze. Around 70 firefighters battled the flames amid thick smoke clouds that darkened the skies over Birmingham.

Local Residents Urged to Stay Safe

The fire service has warned locals to keep windows and doors shut to avoid smoke inhalation. “If you are near the area, please close all windows and doors,” a spokesperson said.

Transport Disruptions Under Watch

The recycling scrap yard sits close to several key train stations including Adderley Park, Duddeston, Bordesley, and Moor Street. Fire crews are working closely with Network Rail to monitor any impact on nearby railway lines.

Authorities urge everyone to steer clear of the area as the fire continues to burn.
