Body Found After Dramatic Brighton Sea Search
Volunteers from the RNLI and Sussex Police rushed to the scene near Brighton Palace Pier just before 4 p.m. yesterday following reports of a person missing in the sea.
Hours-Long Search Ends in Tragedy
The rescue mission stretched on for nearly six hours, with teams from Newhaven, Littlehampton, and Shoreham joining in. Despite relentless efforts, the search was called off just before 10 p.m. last night.
The operation resumed at 6 a.m. this morning but wrapped up two hours later without finding the missing person alive.
Body Discovered on Saltdean Beach
Sussex Police confirmed a body was found around 8.15 a.m. on Thursday at Saltdean beach, close to the search area.
A police spokesperson said: “On Wednesday, emergency services responded to a report of a person in the sea off Brighton Palace Pier. RNLI lifeboats, volunteers, the HM Coastguard helicopter, and coastguards alongside Sussex Police thoroughly searched the area.”
An investigation into the tragic death is ongoing. Authorities vow to provide further updates as soon as possible.
