Coach Crashes Into M6 Motorway Bridge Near Coventry
Twelve people were rushed to hospital after a coach slammed into a motorway bridge on the M6 in Warwickshire last night. The driver was trapped and had to be cut free in a dramatic rescue operation.
Emergency Teams Flood the Scene
Six ambulances, four paramedic officers, a Hazardous Area Response Team, and a trauma doctor were scrambled to the chaotic crash site. Emergency crews found multiple patients in critical condition, including a male passenger who received specialist trauma care at the scene before being rushed on blue lights to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire.
Driver Freed After Two-Hour Rescue
The coach driver, a man, was trapped in the wreckage and had to be freed by rescue teams in a painstaking operation lasting about two hours. He and another passenger were treated for potentially serious injuries and taken to the same hospital.
Other Passengers Treated and Transported
Nine other passengers suffered injuries not believed to be serious. They were treated and sent to George Eliot and Warwick Hospitals for further care.
West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “Upon arrival, crews discovered multiple patients in critical condition, including a man who was a passenger on the coach.”
