Early Morning Blaze Hits Surbiton Restaurant

Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters raced to a restaurant fire on Ewell Road, Surbiton, in the early hours today. The fire damaged a small part of the restaurant’s ground floor.

Flats Above Evacuated as Precaution

Fire crews helped evacuate about four residents from the flats above the restaurant as a safety measure. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

Faulty Fridge Blamed for Fire

The fire brigade received the call at 11:44pm and had the incident under control by 11:07am. Crews from Surbiton, New Malden, Kingston, Sutton, Twickenham, and Tooting stations tackled the blaze. The cause? An accidental fire sparked by a faulty fridge.
