Isle of Wight Council Urges Vigilance During Cold Snap
As many of us remain homebound, the Isle of Wight Council is urging residents to keep warm and watch out for vulnerable friends and neighbours at risk from the biting chill.
Who’s Most at Risk?
- Babies and young children under 5
- Older people aged 75 and over
- Those with pre-existing conditions such as heart disease, circulatory problems, asthma, COPD, depression, anxiety, or arthritis
Simple Steps to Stay Safe and Well
- Keep warm: Heat your home to at least 18°C. Stock up on food, medication, and warm clothes.
- Stay well: Keep active, get your flu and COVID-19 vaccines if eligible, and follow current COVID guidance.
- Stay connected: Reach out to your GP, pharmacist, carers, friends, and family. Look out for those at risk in your community.
The cold isn’t just uncomfortable—it’s a serious health risk. Stay warm, stay safe, and look after one another as the Arctic chill bites down.
