Morriston Petrol Explosion Rocks 20 Homes
A suspected petrol explosion has wrecked at least 20 homes in Morriston this morning, shortly after 11.20 a.m. One house has collapsed, another is badly damaged, and debris litters the area.
Tragic Body Found Amid Search for Missing Man
Police searching for a missing man have confirmed a body has been discovered. His family has been informed. Three others were rushed to hospital following the blast.
Shockwaves Felt Miles Away as Police Investigate
The explosion shook houses several miles from the scene. Nearby properties also suffered damage. Authorities have urged the public to steer clear while investigations continue.
“Our thoughts are with the family of the man who has died and those affected by this tragic incident,” said Superintendent Steve Jones. “We are doing everything possible to minimise the impact on the larger community and provide access to homes as soon as it is safe. I’d like to thank the community for their patience and support during this difficult incident.”
The Health and Safety Executive has been alerted as police launch a full probe into the blast’s cause.
