Person Killed at Secluded Railway Crossing Near Basingstoke
A tragic death has occurred at Parlour Gates Pedestrian Level Crossing, just outside Basingstoke, this afternoon.
Collision with Train Confirmed by British Transport Police
The British Transport Police (BTP) confirmed a person was struck and killed by a train shortly after 1pm today. Officers were called to the scene at 1.13pm following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
Hampshire Police and South Central Coast Ambulance paramedics also attended. The victim was pronounced dead at the crossing.
Ongoing Investigation and Travel Disruptions
Police are now working to identify the deceased and inform their next of kin. The incident is not being treated as suspicious.
Network Rail has warned passengers to expect delays of up to an hour on services passing through the area.
