Kent Police Drone and Dog Team Rescue Missing Woman
Police swooped on a rural spot in Ashford after a woman in her 30s vanished from home late Tuesday night, August 16, 2022. Officers were called at around 9.35pm to launch a search in nearby fields and outbuildings.
Drone Pilot and Police Dog Join the Hunt
Roads Policing Unit’s PC Andrew Green, a trained drone pilot, was brought in to assist. Alongside him was Police Dog Wilma and her handler, PC Jessica Arnold. Using aerial footage, PC Green spotted a figure in the fields nearly a mile away shortly after midnight.
Safe Return Thanks to Team Effort
Guided by PC Green’s drone, PC Arnold and Wilma tracked down the woman. She was found safe and well and given a lift back home. Sergeant Michael Gallon of Ashford Local Policing Team praised the coordinated effort:
“When someone is reported missing, our priority is to find them as soon as possible before any harm can come to them. We call on a variety of specialists, including a drone pilot and a police dog on this occasion.
