Chaos on A27: Two Critically Injured After Multi-Car Crash
Emergency crews rushed to the A27 eastbound between Falmer and Ashcombe roundabout following a serious multi-vehicle smash late Friday night.
Trapped Drivers Freed from Overturned Car
Firefighters from East Sussex Fire and Rescue arrived with specialist cutting gear to free two people trapped inside an overturned vehicle. Both victims are reported to be in critical condition after the crash, which was first reported at around 10:40pm.
Air Ambulances and Specialist Teams Deployed
The Kent, Sussex, and Surrey air ambulances were scrambled alongside paramedics from the South East Coast Ambulance Service. A Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) is also supporting the emergency response at the scene.
Road Closure and Police Investigation Underway
Sussex Police have shut the A27 in both directions while they investigate the cause of the collision. The closure is expected to last for some time, causing major disruption for commuters and travellers.
