Julianne Moore: “A Daunting but Exhilarating Challenge”
Oscar, BAFTA, and Emmy winner Julianne Moore brings Mary Villiers to life. She is the first American woman to scoop top acting honours at Cannes, Berlin, and Venice, where she now serves as President of the Jury.
“Mary Villiers was a woman who through her own actions rose to become a powerful and influential figure in Jacobean London. It’s a daunting but exhilarating challenge to bring her to life on screen,” Moore said.
Executive Producer Liza Marshall added, “Julianne Moore is our dream casting for Mary – a woman damned by her contemporaries but always the smartest person in the room. Indomitable women like Mary have often been erased from history. With DC Moore’s brilliant scripts and Oliver Hermanus directing, we’ll reclaim her story for a truly unmissable show.”
Where and When to Watch
Mary & George will air in 2023 on Sky across the UK, Ireland, DACH countries, and Italy. AMC Networks holds distribution rights for the US, Canada, New Zealand, and India.
