Burglar’s Bloody Blunder Lands Him Behind Bars

John Pearce, 44, got caught red-handed burgling in London after a spree hitting two Warrington homes in February. He was slapped with a hefty three years and six months sentence at Liverpool Crown Court on November 26.

Burglar Hits Two Warrington Homes Days Apart

Pearce struck first on Paul Street near Warrington town centre on February 10. He smashed patio doors to break in while the house was empty, making off with a laptop and a designer handbag. Blood spots left behind on curtains and cupboards would later seal his fate.

Just four days later, on February 14, Pearce broke into a property on Ackers Road. Again, the house was unoccupied. He forced open the back door and ransacked the place, stealing a designer handbag, purse, sunglasses, and more than 30 pieces of pricey jewellery.

Caught in The Act, Identified by DNA

After pawning the stolen loot at shops in Warrington and Liverpool, Pearce travelled to London. There, officers caught him red-handed burgling another property on February 24.

Despite giving no comment, Pearce’s DNA from the Paul Street burglary matched the blood found at the scene. Staff at the pawnbrokers remembered him too.

Police Praise Teamwork as Items Returned

Police recovered the stolen goods from pawnbrokers and returned them to their owners. Detective Constable Chris Little said, “I am pleased Pearce is now behind bars facing the consequences of his actions. He tried to profit from stolen property, but we tracked him down thanks to DNA and quick police work.”

Cheshire Police and Crime Commissioner David Keane added, “Everyone has the right to feel safe in their own home. This crime shakes that trust and hits victims hard. I commend the officers who brought Pearce to justice and returned belongings to rightful owners.”
