Massive Explosion Levels Blackburn Home in Fiery Inferno

A Blackburn house on London Road was ripped apart by a massive explosion late Sunday evening, erupting into a fireball that gutted the property before it collapsed. Shocking CCTV footage capturing the blaze and explosion has gone viral, showing debris raining down on the street.

Blast Rocks Area Near Popular Barbershop

The explosion erupted right next to the well-known 1 Road Gents Hair Cutting. The clip shows a fiery orange flash, instantly followed by chunks of the building hurtling into the road. London Road, situated north of Blackburn city centre, remains partially cordoned off as police investigate.

Emergency Services Race to Scene – Roads Shut

At around 8pm on December 17, emergency crews swarmed to the scene after residents reported a loud explosion and a building collapse. Blackburn and Darwen Police quickly closed London Road between Blackburn Street and Charlotte Street, urging locals to steer clear. Charlotte Street itself was shut in both directions.

Firefighters from Blackburn, Hyndburn, and the Urban Search and Rescue Team in Chorley joined forces to tackle the blaze. Authorities also prohibited drone flights nearby to aid their aerial assessment.

One Man Rescued, Neighbouring Homes Evacuated

Police confirmed they pulled one man from the rubble and rushed him to hospital. His injuries are serious but not life-threatening. Several nearby properties were evacuated for safety. A rest centre was set up at the Noorani 1 Centre on Hartley Street to support displaced residents.

Investigation Underway as Emergency Services Hold Ground

As of 10pm, police thanked the Noorani Education Centre for their help and confirmed responders remain at the scene. The cause of the blast is still unknown. Officials continue to ask the public to avoid the area until investigations conclude.
