Tragedy Strikes Halloween Bash in Seoul: 120 Dead, Scores Injured
At least 120 people were crushed to death and 150 injured during chaotic Halloween celebrations in Seoul’s Itaewon district, officials confirmed.
Stampede Sparks Horror in Popular Party Hotspot
The disaster struck late Saturday night in a narrow alley near the famed Hamilton Hotel, a known party hub. Panic ensued as a massive crowd surged forward, trapping and trampling revellers.
Choi Cheon-sik of the National Fire Agency warned the death toll could rise as rescue teams worked tirelessly to ferry the injured to hospitals across the city. So far, 74 bodies have been admitted to hospitals, while 46 deceased remain on the street awaiting identification.
Emergency Crews Race to Scene
- More than 800 emergency workers, including nearly all of Seoul’s available personnel, were dispatched to assist victims.
- Dozens of people were seen receiving CPR on the streets as others were rushed to nearby hospitals.
An anonymous police source revealed the stampede unfolded after rumours spread that a famous celebrity was spotted at a local bar, causing hundreds to flood the area in excitement.
President Demands Urgent Response
South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol issued a statement calling for swift medical aid for the injured and a full review of safety protocols at public events to prevent further catastrophe.
