Chaos on A13 After Nine-Vehicle Smash Near Dagenham
Motorists faced a gridlock nightmare on the A13 this morning after a colossal nine-vehicle crash near Dagenham. Around 9am on October 3, the eastbound carriageway between Ripple Road and Marsh Way came to a standstill following a pile-up involving eight cars and a lorry.
One Man Hurt, No One Trapped in Wreckage
Emergency crews rushed to the scene but found no one trapped in the tangled mess. One man was treated at the roadside before being whisked off to hospital.
“One fire engine from Wennington fire station was called to a road traffic collision involving eight vehicles and one lorry on the A13 eastbound carriageway, between Ripple Road and Marsh Way in Dagenham, this morning,” confirmed a London Fire Brigade spokesperson. “The Brigade’s 999 Control officers took the first call at 08:57 and the incident was over by 09:28. No one was trapped. The eastbound carriageway remains closed so motorists are advised to avoid the area.”
Ambulance Teams Race to Incident
The London Ambulance Service sent a full response unit, including an ambulance crew, a paramedic in a fast response car, and an incident response officer. They swiftly treated a patient on site before transferring him to hospital for further care.
“We were called at 8:57am today (3 October) to reports of a road traffic collision on the A13, in Dagenham,” said a LAS spokesperson. “We sent an ambulance crew, a paramedic in a fast response car and an incident response officer to the scene. We treated a patient at the scene and took him to hospital.”
Drivers Urged to Avoid A13 Eastbound
The eastbound A13 remains shut, sparking severe delays throughout the morning rush. The London Fire Brigade has warned drivers to steer clear of the crash zone to avoid further traffic chaos.
The Metropolitan Police have been contacted for comment as investigations into the collision continue.
